Alan Whyte
Social Worker/Tinnitus Counselor

Alan has worked for the Association since 1973, starting first as a social work assistant. After completing the Certificate of Qualification in Social Work at Robert Gordon's College Aberdeen he returned to the Association. He has main responsibility for service users in the Angus area as well as some in Dundee.

He qualified as a registered lay counsellor for Tinnitus in 1999 which means that he is able to give advice and support to people to help them manage their Tinnitus. He is also a Council member of the British Tinnitus Association. Alan has Stage 2 in British Sign Language.

Secretary

Gail is our Secretary and is in charge of secretarial support, administration, arranging sign language interpreters etc. She joined in May 2006 having come from a varied secretarial background.

Gail has her CACDP Deaf Awareness Certificate and is currently working towards her Level 1 certificate in British Sign Language.

Social Work Assistant

Carrie was previously our Secretary here at TAD but moved into her current post of Social Work assistant in May 2006.

Carrie is responsible for assisting the Social Workers here at the Association and covers the whole of Tayside.

Carrie has her CACDP Stage 1 in BSL, CACDP Deaf Awareness Certificate and Communication Tactics with Deaf People Certificate.

Carrie is working towards her K100 in Health & Social care with the Open University.

Carla Marchbank
Social Worker/Practice Teacher

Carla has worked for the Association since 1999. Carla previously worked as a Child Care worker for Dumfries and Galloway Council, after qualifying in 1996 with a Master of Social Work from the University of Dundee. She has main responsibility for the Dundee City Council area, but carries some cases in other areas too.

She has Stage 2 in British Sign Language and is working towards accreditation as a Practice Teacher.

Trainee Sign Language Interpreter

Juliet started working at the Association in September 2004. Previously she had worked as a Communication Support Worker in a local college.

Juliet achieved her Deaf Studies BSC Hons from Bristol University 2003. Since joining the Association she has attended some units at Heriot Watt University and completed in-hoouse training.

She has now completed her CACDP NVQ Level 4 BSL and is currently working towards her completion of her CACDP NVQ Level 4 Interpreting.

Social Worker
Margaret joined the Association as a social worker in 2002  Previously she worked in child care for Dundee City Council after qualifying in June 2000. Margaret has main responsibility for the Perth and Kinross area but also covers cases in Dundee.

Margaret has successfully passed her CACDP Deaf Awareness certificate and is currently working towards her BSL Level1.

Prior to her social work career Margaret has worked in a variety of places, local factories, retail trade,call center, offices...to name but a few.

Alana McNab - Co-ordinator,
Sound-Sense Project

Alana started in August 2002 and worked previously with Caithness Deaf Care as Co -ordinator from its inception in 1994 until moving to Stirling in 2001 where she worked as Volunteer Development Manager for Counseling and Support Services for Alcohol and Drugs(Forth Valley).

Along with various qualifications and certificated training in Volunteer and Project Management, Alana has:
CACDP Certificate in Deaf Awareness, Deaf Awareness Curriculum Training, Deafblind Guiding and Communication, BSL Stage 1 & RNID Lip speaking Level 2

Lindsey Cowan
Administrative Assistant
Sound-Sense Project

Lindsey joined the SOUND SENSE project as Administrative Assistant in October 2002 with a background in administration and experience in working with projects funded by the Community Fund.

She has successfully passed her CACDP Deaf Awareness certificate.
