Tayside Deaf Association can provide a variety of different communication support workers when requested. These include;
BSL/English Interpreters
Deaf/Blind Interpreters
Lipspeakers
Manual/ Electronic Note takers.
The Association takes pride in retaining a high and professional standard with all assignments.
The Association uses interpreters registered with SASLI [Scottish Association of Sign Language Interpreters] or CACDP/Signature [The Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People]. We also use trainee interpreters and communication support workers.

All these communication support workers assist in the aid of communication between both hearing and d/Deaf people. Deaf and deaf blind people have the right to communication in their own language. BSL/English Interpreters are trained to interpret between BSL (British Sign Language) and English. Those deaf people who rely on lip reading will need a lip speaker. All Interpreters must follow Code of Conducts set for the Profession.
Professionalism-Interpreters must
maintain the professional standards of the interpreting profession and
continue self development to maintain and improve personal standards.
Confidentiality - Interpreters are
expected to keep information confidential pertaining to, or arising from
any interpreting assignment.
Impartiality - Interpreters are to
show no bias or preferences. Interpreters should also not benefit
from information learned from assignments.
Accountability - Interpreter should only undertaken and accept assignment if they have the appropriate qualifications, competence, and experience.
