Tayside Association for the Deaf is committed in providing a high quality friendly professional service. We are a registered interpreting agency with the Scottish Association of Sign Language Interpreters (SASLI) and follow closely their guidelines. We use Sign Language Interpreters from both (SASLI) or CACDP (The Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf people) who have displayed a high quality of interpreting skills. As a charity we are strongly committed in providing support and assist to our in-house interpreters in helping with their on-going professional development. We are also keen on providing interpreters for the future.

We provide Sign Language Interpreting, Communication Support Workers, Deafblind Communicators, Lipspeaking and a Notetaking Service.

We provide communication support for;doctor’s appointments, hospital consultations, job interviews, induction training, union meetings, staff appraisals, social work meetings, criminal justice, child protection, police interviews and procedures, court matters, solicitor’s appointments, seminars, tribunals, school parent’s meetings, case conferences, children’s hearings, reviews, College courses, graduations, weddings, funerals ...

 

The service covers the whole of Tayside:

  • Dundee

  • Perth

  • Perthshire

  • Angus
  • Why use a Sign Language/English Interpreter
    Sign Language Interpreters are trained to interpret between British Sign Language (BSL) and English.

  • Impartial: Sign Language Interpreters do not take sides or give advice. They will give information on issues relating to interpreting.

  • Independent: Sign Language Interpreters enable Deaf people to make their own decisions when given access to information.

  • Confidential: Sign Language Interpreters will not make use of information gathered at assignment or share it with others.

  • Accountable: If you are not satisfied with the Sign Language Interpreting Service you have received or want to comment on how to improve the service please contact us.
